Sharing Memories of Mr. James W. Little

Mr. Little was my next-door neighbor during my years at West. I still have vivid images of him doing yard work wearing this jungle pith helmet reminded me of an African safari.

He always asked his students to come up to the front of the class and get on The Spot so we could read aloud or recite something.

Do right was his favorite saying, and he never let us forget the number 44..good stuff!

~Mike Pitman~

44. For those who were in Mr. Little's English class, need I say anything more? He always told us that we couldn't forget anything and to prove it, he told us never to forget the number 44. And I still haven't. I'm reminded of it daily. Brian Bosworth's uniform number for the University of Oklahoma football team. Our current president, Barack Obama is the 44th president. I guess you were right, Mr. Little.

~Jane McPhail Harris, Class of 1970~
